Why I made this

So I built the guide
I wished I had.

Hi, I'm Jia, a first-time mum to a little boy, with a degree in nutrition.

When I started Kai on solids, I still felt overwhelmed even with a nutrition degree. I downloaded apps, scrolled through endless posts and screenshotted everything, but the information was scattered everywhere. Nothing simply said, "You're here. Here's what comes next."

As a Type A mum, that uncertainty made me incredibly anxious. So I researched every question, compared the advice and organised everything into my own step-by-step notes.

My nutrition background gave me a head start, but I kept thinking: if I feel this overwhelmed, how must other first-time mums feel? That became the reason I created this guide, to put everything in one clear, practical place.

Step by step. No overwhelm. No generic advice.

Made for real life

This is for you if…

01

You're a first-time mum who has no idea where to start.

Instead of piecing together textures, allergens, nutrition, portions and meal frequency yourself, simply go to your baby's month and everything for that stage is laid out for you. You'll know what to prioritise, which textures to offer, how much and how often to serve, which skills to work towards, and how to progress from the first spoon to 12 months.

02

You've done the research… but still find yourself wondering, "What do I actually feed my baby today?"

You won't be left with a list of nutritional recommendations and have to turn them into meals yourself. For each month, you'll have actual food ideas, balanced meal combinations, ready-made meal plans and recipes to follow, designed around the nutrients and variety your baby needs at that stage.

03

You keep wondering if you're doing it "right."

When feeding doesn't go as expected, your baby refuses food, throws it, eats less, or suddenly changes their preferences, the guide helps you understand what may be happening and how to respond. So when things get harder, you have something to refer back to instead of second-guessing every meal.

You don't need more information.
You need a roadmap.

You can already Google iron-rich foods, look up how to cut a strawberry, save baby recipes and read about textures.

But you're still left figuring out how it all fits together.

"Okay, I have all this information, but how do I start?"

  2. 2Go to your baby's age
  3. 3Know what to focus on

You're not only shown how to start. You're guided at every age as your baby grows.

The complete guide

Everything You Need,
in the Order You'll Use It.

No jumping between chapters or working out what to read next. Start at the beginning and follow the guide in the order it has already been arranged for you.

No piecing it together yourself

Month by month. A clear plan for every stage.

You don't have to learn all the basics and then work out how to turn them into a plan. Simply open the month your baby is in and follow what is already laid out for you, from what to focus on nutritionally and which textures to offer, to how much, how often and what to serve each day.

When things get hard

Feeding changes in waves. This chapter helps you through them.

I included this chapter because I went through these difficult stages with Kai too. When feeding suddenly changes, it is easy to feel anxious or wonder whether you have done something wrong.

It isn't just you. This section helps you understand what may be happening, what you can try next and when to ask for help, so you feel informed rather than caught off guard.

A gentle but important note

This guide supports you. It does not replace your baby's healthcare professional.

I'm Jia, a first-time mum with a degree in nutrition, not a paediatrician or dietitian. This guide brings together research-informed education and what I learned through my own experience with Kai. It is not medical advice and is not intended to diagnose, treat or replace individual medical care.

Every baby develops differently. If you are unsure whether your baby is developmentally ready for solids, or you have concerns about growth, feeding, swallowing, allergies or a medical condition, please speak with your paediatrician or qualified healthcare professional before proceeding.
